This factory E30 jack has been neglected for decades.

Watching old barn finds get rescued and restored to perfection is endlessly satisfying. Equally as enjoyable is watching the tools, accessories, and other trinkets that come along with those cars get brought back to life. Watch along as this decades-old BMW jack goes from rusty scrap metal to like-new in this highly detailed restoration video.

This video comes to us via Restore It, a channel on YouTube dedicated to resurrecting old tools, boxes, accessories, cars, and other forgotten treasures. The channel is currently in the process of restoring an E30-generation BMW 325i Touring. To prepare for the car's reassembly, it's restored the car's original factory-supplied jack.

Though the jack was still in working order at the start of this video, it's clear it needed serious attention. Sections of the body were heavily rusted, and the gear mechanism wasn't in the greatest shape. The channel got to work disassembling the jack, which included having to cut a few factory welds. Once in pieces, the paint and rust were cleared off the metal using a sand-blasting machine. The original rubber stoppers were healthy enough to reuse, so those were also stripped of any original paint and restored.

After every piece was reconditioned, the jack was reassembled and repainted, with all plastic pieces reused. The finished product looks as good as new, and actually works well on the car it came with. A job well done, we'd say.
